Westie Roadtrip
June 2009

What do you get when you put 10 Westies and 3 women in a mini van?  A breed road trip!!!  The adventure started on June 24, 2009 and ended on June 29, 2009 with Stephanie Capkovic, Lisa Erdley and Wanda Stare still being friends.   Five days of breed shows, 1237 miles of travel,  2 less than perfect motels, and several new friends later (including a few bikers who stayed at our motel for the annual race), the gang came home with several very nice wins!

Highlights of the breed ring included:

Lisa Erdley showed “Brinkley” (Bella Vista’s On The Brink) to 3 wins!  Brinkley earned a total of 7 points on the trip, including both of the three point major wins that are needed to earn his AKC championship title.

The puppy, Lola (Bella Vista’s Sweet and Lo….la!), who was just 6 months old, earned a reserve win under Westie Breeder Judge, Ms. Melinda Lyons.  For her first time away from home, Lola did great!

Claire (Bella Vista’s The Girl Next Door) won the American Bred Class on all days and on Monday she went Winners Bitch for a 3 point major win.  Claire was shown that day by professional handler, Butch Redman.
All of the dogs were good little travelers. From their point of view, the highlights of the trip included sleeping in bed, practicing weave poles at the show site and getting lots of leftovers as treats!
